Washington, DC – Safari Club International Foundation (SCI Foundation) contributed over $200,000 dollars directly to the management of big game species through the auction of exclusive Governors’ tags and permits. After a very successful offering of big game tags during January of 2013, two additional big game tags were auctioned online during June, 2013.

The first Governor’s tag was for an Alaska Kenai Mountains Caribou (Barren Ground) that sold for $9,000. The second Alaskan Governor’s tag was for the chance to hunt a free-ranging Plains Bison from the coveted Delta Bison herd which sold for $12,500.

“SCI Foundation’s singular mission is to find more diverse ways to direct conservation funding to on-the-ground projects. By using SCI Foundation’s extensive network of hunters, the exposure that the tags receive is unmatched,” said SCI Foundation President Joe Hosmer. “We know that science-based conservation requires significant fundraising and SCI Foundation stands ready to work with every conservation partner to make sure wildlife research is a top financial priority.”
